Homemade Glimmer Mist

So this is my first attempt at home made glimmer mist. I have seen a few tutorials on it so I decided to try it. I have a lot of alcohol inks that I have bought to dye clear dewdrops. Tim Holtz makes wonderful colors of inks in Earthy Tones. So to make the glimmer mist, I used Alcohol Ink, Mica Powder, a drop of Crystal Glaze dimensional glue and water. The mica powder is heavy duty stuff, you really need only a tiny bit. I had a bit of trial in error in making the green. I used quite a bit of the Mica Powder in gold and that sorta over-rode the green ink. The cranberry color came out really well though. I used a pearly mica with violet undertones
I still have 9 more colors to make and will put up a pic when I am done..

***EDIT*** (4/14/10)
I have contacted Tim Holtz about using alcohol inks in the homemade glimmer mist. He wrote back to me and explained why Alcohol inks should NOT be used. The ink contains a resin that when in liquid form if inhaled can stick to the lining of your lungs. And if by accident you spray yourself in the face, the alcohol ink could blind you. And knowing me, that is something that could easily happen. I just wanted to clarify and let everyone know please do NOT use the alcohol inks but by his video tutorial you can find, use the Distress Ink refill.

Birthday Card

I made this birthday card for my future sister in law, Jen. I love her! We live 3000 miles away and wished we lived closer. I will be finally be able to see her next month, it has been about a year since I have last seen her so I am so excited.
For this card I used my new cupcake stamps from Hero Arts. I also used my new spellbinders and I am really loving them. I almost wished I have gotten my big shot before I got my cricut expression. I would have a better collection of dies then. I am getting them slowly but I think it's because I have been so picky. With cartridges, there is so much in one where with the dies, you have to love the one you buy. I would love to get the new Tim Holtz ones. They look amazing!
For this card I used:
Unknown Patterned Paper and cardstock from stash
Hero Arts Cupcake Stamps
Copic Markers, Spellbinders, Handmade Die Cut Felt Flower and Handmade Button with Stickles on top.
Ribbon and Raindrops from Pink Hedgehog, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist

This card is for these challenges:

Your Next Stamp Challenge-Purple

Baby Boy Card

I made this card for my Fiance's cousin, Lisa. She is having a baby boy! I am so excited for her. There is nothing more life changing then having a baby. I had a bit of trouble actually making the card. I am not used to making cards for men or boys. I always make girly pink cards and this was a good experience for me. I did use a copic marker to color the white paper lace. I love to be able to match the color by using the markers.

For this card I used:
Basic Grey Patterned Paper
Stamps- Unknown
Colorbox Pigment Ink w/ Ala mode Embossing Powder
Buttons, Ribbon and Raindrops by Pink Hedgehog, Paper Lace

New Day

It has been quite a while since I last posted on my blog. I was fighting Bronchitis for the past month and This week I have finally started feeling myself again. I couldn't be happier!
The weather is starting to get much nicer now which is great, I have missed seeing the sun in the rainy Pacific Northwest. Easter will be here soon which is my favorite holiday. My 1 year old daughter will be participating in her first Easter egg hunt, I cannot wait!
Here is a little something I made last night. I love the image, Alice in Wonderland is a childhood favorite.
Oh, And this is the first time using spellbinders. I finally got some with hesitation because the last thing I need is a new obsession.
This is for the Practical Scrappers Challenge

Birthday Card

Here is a new Birthday Card I made. I didn't make it for any particular reason or for any challenges. Although it is more or less a challenge card for myself. I made a resolution to make at least 1 new card a week. I have been super busy with trying to open my etsy so I didn't have much time for this one. It's not a favorite but I still think its cute. I used my new cuttlebug folder and wanted to try out some distressing. So I sanded some of the raised parts of the embossed paper. I do like how that turned out and want to get in depth with distress techniques.

For this card I used:
Lilly from Digistamp Boutique
Copic Markers
Robin's Nest Teardrops
Pink Hedgehog Ribbon
Cuttlebug D'vine swirls embossing folder
Cardstock/Patterned Paper from DCWV

Getting Better

Every time I make a new card, I feel like I am getting better. They say practice makes perfect. I say practice shows better results in time. My last card was in the top 5 of Hope Stamps Eternal. I couldn't be any happier. It really made me feel like maybe I finally found something that I could really get good at and would be worth the practice. Thank you all for the comments and support, it really pushes me to strive for the best.
That all being said, Here is my new card. I love it. I think if I was a card, this would be me. I love the colors I used and being Asian American really connects with me. (Nevermind the little whoopsie about the o in you, had a bit of a glue problem)

Learning New Things

Today I am going to sit down and learn more about blogs. In a short time, I have learned quite a lot. From changing the template to posting links to other blogs that I like. I'd really like to learn how to post badges from other blogs.

For today, I am posting a pic of a card I made for the owner of the local stamping store called Stampin Cat Studio.  I used Stampin up stamps and Prismacolor with OMS.

I am back

I am finally back after the crazy holidays. From my daughter's first birthday to Thanksgiving, then christmas, and having family visit from 3000 miles away was fun.

I have just recently gotten into Copic markers. I do have to admit, they are amazing. I am still learning how to use them and trying to collect colors that blend well from the same color family.

Here is a card I just made for The Greeting Farm Relay Contest. It is a week long contest that consists of 1 card to has to be made and posted in a 24 hour window. I had some problems with my printer first not printing any black. Then I had to hand draw the outline in black prismacolor to darken it up. All in all though, I am happy with it.
